Warum Wasserkraft?
Die Wasserkraft verbraucht keine Ressourcen und erzeugt beim Prozess der Stromerzeugung kein CO2. Ein weiterer großer Vorteil ist, dass Wasserkraftwerke nicht so stark an das Klima gebunden sind wie andere regenerative Energien wie z.B. Wind- oder Solaranlagen, die für die Erzeugung Wind bzw. Wie funktioniert ein Wasserkraftwerk?
Das Ziel eines Wasserkraftwerkes ist es elektrische Energie zu erzeugen, um diese dann zu verwenden. Das Wasser sammelt sich am Stausee, der oberhalb des Unterwassers liegt. Das Oben aufgestaute bzw. „gespeicherte“ Wasser kann dann nach Bedarf durch die Wehr fließen, in der Turbinen eingelassen sind. Die kinetische Energie wird dann an den Turbinen in mechanische Energie umgewandelt. Die Turbinen wandeln diese wiederum in elektrische Energie um. So entsteht der Strom.
Die überschüssige Energie kann bei Pumpspeicherkraftwerken dazu genutzt werden, das Wasser wieder nach Oben zu transportieren.
